Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said government spending on healthcare and education should be viewed as a long-term investment in human resources rather than free welfare, as it will strengthen the State’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Speaking after distributing appointment letters to 247 newly selected nursing officers at Sevalal Bhavan, Hyderabad, alongside Labour Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkatswamy, he also announced major healthcare infrastructure upgrades, recruitment of medical staff, and accelerated construction of super-specialty hospitals across Telangana.

247 Nursing Officers Receive Appointment Letters
Under the aegis of the Insurance Medical Services (IMS) Department, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and Labour Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkatswamy distributed appointment letters to 247 newly selected nursing officers at Sevalal Bhavan, Hyderabad, on Friday.
The Deputy Chief Minister congratulated the newly appointed nursing officers and highlighted the government’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare sector.
Healthcare and Education Are Investments, Says Bhatti Vikramarka
Addressing the gathering, Bhatti Vikramarka said expenditure on healthcare and education should not be treated merely as welfare spending but as an investment in the state’s future.
He said investment in human resources would improve the State’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and contribute to Telangana’s long-term development.

Criticism of Previous Government Over Workers’ Rights
Bhatti Vikramarka expressed concern that during the previous decade, workers’ rights and minimum wages were severely neglected.
He recalled that while serving as the Leader of the Opposition, he had repeatedly raised the issue of minimum wage revision during every Assembly Budget Session, but the then government failed to respond adequately.
He appreciated Labour Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkatswamy for taking special initiative after assuming office and issuing the long-pending orders on minimum wage revisions.
₹30 Crore for Medicines in ESI Hospitals
The Deputy Chief Minister said that based on the request made by Labour Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkatswamy, the government would make provisions to release ₹30 crore through a green channel to ensure an uninterrupted supply of medicines in ESI hospitals serving poor patients.
Major Upgrades Planned for ESI Hospitals
Bhatti Vikramarka said the government aims to transform ESI hospitals into centres providing quality healthcare for workers and their families.
As part of this plan, the government is rapidly establishing:
- Advanced dialysis units
- CT scan facilities
- Burns wards
- Cardiac care centres
He added that the existing infrastructure in ESI hospitals is also being modernised.
Government to Recruit More Medical Staff
To strengthen healthcare services further, the Deputy Chief Minister announced that vacancies for doctors and paramedical staff would be filled soon.
The government plans to recruit:
- 120 Civil Assistant Surgeons
- 6 Dental Civil Surgeons
- 99 Pharmacists
- 34 Lab Technicians
- 54 ANMs
- Other paramedical staff
Super-Specialty Hospitals Being Accelerated
Bhatti Vikramarka said the government is taking war-footing measures to make super-specialty healthcare accessible to everyone.
He announced that construction of multi super-specialty hospitals is being accelerated at:
- Sanathnagar ESI
- LB Nagar
- Alwal
- Warangal
He added that NIMS expansion works are also receiving top priority.
According to the Deputy Chief Minister:
- Telangana is being developed into a state with one of the highest average bed capacities in the country.
- Around 44,029 hospital beds are being created.
- Approximately 75 lakh people are receiving quality healthcare services through Insurance Medical Services (IMS).
New Medical, Nursing and Paramedical Colleges
Bhatti Vikramarka said that besides the existing 16 medical colleges, the government has sanctioned:
- 9 new medical colleges
- 16 nursing colleges
- 28 paramedical colleges
He said these institutions will strengthen Telangana’s healthcare education and improve medical services across the state.
