They noted that Captain Fatima Wasim is the first female medical officer to be deployed to an operational post in a challenging region like the Siachen Glacier.

In a post on their official social media account, the Fire and Fury Corps stated that Captain Fatima Wasim has made history by becoming the first female medical officer to be deployed to an operational post in Siachen Glacier.

The Corps further detailed that Captain Fatima Wasim underwent rigorous training at the Siachen Battle School, and after successfully completing the demanding training, she was deployed to a post at an elevation of 15,200 feet. This post reflects her indomitable spirit and high morale.

Earlier this month, Captain Geetika Koul also made history by becoming the first female medical officer of the Indian Army to be deployed in Siachen. Siachen, located in the northern Himalayas, is strategically important and poses challenges due to its harsh weather and contested borders.
