Hyderabad: The State government is set to roll out the ‘Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme’ on October 6. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will officially kick off the program at a government school in Rangareddy district, as announced by Chief Secretary Santi Kumari on Tuesday night.
Initially planned for Dussehra, the launch date was moved up due to potential Assembly poll announcements in the second week of October.
GHMC Commissioner D Ronald Rose has directed authorities to ensure breakfast is provided to students in government schools starting this Friday. The initiative, in line with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s vision, will be implemented in all government schools across the State.
The commissioner held a video conference on Tuesday with Hyderabad Collector Anudeep Durishetti, Additional Commissioner Sneha Sabarish, and Zonal Commissioners to coordinate breakfast arrangements in all government schools under GHMC jurisdiction. It was suggested that one school per constituency be selected, and the breakfast program should commence in collaboration with district education department officials. This scheme will be accessible to all students enrolled in government and local body schools on regular school days.
Dubbed as KCR’s Dussehra gift to school children, it aims to improve students’ concentration on their studies. The program is expected to benefit over 30 lakh students in 43,000 government schools across the State, providing them with both nutritious meals and quality education.
