According to reports, the controversy began during a court hearing when Chief Justice Justice Surya Kant allegedly remarked that some unemployed youth, who do not find a proper place in society, were becoming “like cockroaches” and criticising everyone in the form of RTI activists.
The remarks reportedly triggered anger among unemployed youth already facing issues such as:

Later, Chief Justice Justice Surya Kant reportedly clarified that his statement had been presented incorrectly.
He said his remarks were aimed only at people using fake degrees to mislead the system.
However, by then the issue had already turned into a large online protest and satire trend on social media.
‘Cockroach Janata Party’ Calls Itself Voice of Unemployed
The “Cockroach Janata Party” described itself as the “voice of lazy and unemployed people.”
The party’s slogan was reportedly declared as:

Conditions for Party Membership
The party also announced unusual membership conditions.
According to the party, a member should:
- Be unemployed voluntarily or compulsorily
- Use phone or internet for at least 11 hours daily
- Continuously raise public issues on social media
Five-Point Manifesto Draws Attention
The party’s five-point manifesto has also become a major topic of discussion online.
The manifesto reportedly demands:
- No Rajya Sabha seat for any Chief Justice after retirement
- Action under the UAPA law against the Chief Election Commissioner if names of eligible voters are deleted from voter lists
- 50 percent reservation for women in Parliament and Cabinet
The manifesto also states that:
- Media licences controlled by corporate institutions should be cancelled and independent media should be prioritised
- MLAs or MPs elected from one party and later joining another party should be barred from contesting elections for 20 years
