Assam BJP MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi has sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to demolish the Taj Mahal and Qutub Minar and build a temple there. Speaking on the Taj Mahal, the MLA said there should be an inquiry into whether Mughal emperor Shah Jahan really loved his wife Mumtaz or not. If he was in love, why did he performed three more marriages after the death of Mumtaz Mahal?
He further said that the Mughals came to India in 1526 and after that Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal in 1632, the question arises as to where the wealth came from to build it?
Rupjyoti said that the wealth of Indians was spent on the construction of the Taj Mahal, then what is the role of Shah Jahan in it? He appealed to demolish Taj Mahal and Qutub Minar and build the most beautiful temples of the world in their place.
