The Commissioner’s Task Force, Khairtabad Zone Team, Hyderabad, has nabbed two accused persons for allegedly selling expired medicines illegally during a surprise inspection at AL ZAMZAM CHEMIST & DRUGGIST and AL SHIFA MEDICAL & GENERAL STORE in MS Maqtha, Khairtabad, Hyderabad, under the limits of Lake Police Station. A total of 3,187 expired medicines and other products, along with one Motorola mobile phone, worth ₹98,277 were seized. The accused and seized material were handed over to the Drug Inspector, Khairtabad Zone, Hyderabad City, for further action.

Surprise Raid at Two Medical Stores in Khairtabad
Acting on credible information, the sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force, Khairtabad Zone Team, Hyderabad, conducted a surprise inspection at:
- AL ZAMZAM CHEMIST & DRUGGIST, #40, Near A Z Hotel, MS Maqtha, Khairtabad, Hyderabad
- AL SHIFA MEDICAL & GENERAL STORE, #43, MS Maqtha, Khairtabad, Hyderabad
Both establishments fall under the jurisdiction of Lake Police Station and were being operated by Mohd Azharuddin.
Expired Medicines Allegedly Sold for Illegal Financial Gain
During the inspection, the team found a large quantity of expired medicines.
According to the press note:
- The manufacturing and expiry details printed on the medicine strips had allegedly been cut or removed.
- The expired medicines were allegedly being sold to customers for illegal financial gain.
- Various expired protein supplements, energy powders, digestive aids, and nutritional products were also found stocked for sale.
- The seized products appeared to be unfit for human consumption, posing a serious risk to public health and constituting violations.
Apprehended Accused
The following two accused were apprehended:
- Mohd Azharuddin, S/o. Mohd Shareef Uddin, 41 years, Medical Business, Resident of #6-3-1247/443, MS Maqtha, Khairtabad, Hyderabad, Cell No. 9399926187. He is the owner of AL Zamzam Medical and AL Shifa Medical.
- Syed Sohail, S/o. Late Syed Akhter, 20 years, Private Job, Resident of Raj Nagar, MS Maqtha, Khairtabad, Hyderabad. He is an employee of AL Zamzam Chemist & Druggist.
