Domestic Flights Resume in Afghanistan
Ariana Afghan Airlines, has resumed domestic flights for the first time since the Taliban gained control of Kabul airport on August 31 following the complete departure of the US troops.
Kabul: Afghanistan’s flag carrier airline, Ariana Afghan Airlines, has resumed domestic flights for the first time since the Taliban gained control of Kabul airport on August 31 following the completion of the US troop departure, reported a local media.
“The Ariana Afghan Airlines began its flights from Kabul to Herat, Mazar-i-Sharif, and Kandahar cities.”, Xinhua news agency quoted TOLO News as saying in a report.
Another local private airline, Kam Air, is said to have relocated its jets from Kabul to Mashhad, Iran, in order to avoid a chaotic situation in Kabul following the Taliban’s capture of the Afghan capital on August 15.
According to the media outlet, a Qatari technical team is ready to assist with the resumption of flights at the Kabul airport.
A Qatari plane carrying high-ranking officials and a United Arab Emirates plane providing humanitarian aid both arrived at Kabul International Airport recently.
