Drug-Free Youth Are the Foundation of a Strong Nation: KIMS Nursing College Holds Awareness Drive in Hyderabad

Speaking about the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, SI Bharathi said the nationwide campaign aims to build a drug-free India through awareness, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and active participation from communities.

Hyderabad: Emphasising that a healthy and successful future begins with a life free from drugs and alcohol, KIMS Nursing College organised a drug awareness programme at Wesley Degree College, Paradise, on Saturday under the Government of India’s Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Reddy Rani, Principal of KIMS Nursing College, urged students to adopt a healthy, disciplined and responsible lifestyle. She cautioned that the growing influence of social media and negative peer pressure is driving many youngsters towards substance abuse at an early age.

She said drug and alcohol addiction not only damages an individual’s physical and mental health but also affects families, society and the future of the nation. Prof. Reddy Rani appealed to parents to stay closely involved in their children’s lives, monitor their behaviour and instil strong moral values from an early age.

The programme’s Chief Guest, Rani Gopalpet Police Station Sub-Inspector Bharathi, highlighted the growing threat of drug abuse among youth and urged students to stay away from narcotics and all unlawful activities. She also explained the rising trend of drug-related cases in Hyderabad and outlined the measures being taken by the police to combat the menace.

Speaking about the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, SI Bharathi said the nationwide campaign aims to build a drug-free India through awareness, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and active participation from communities.

Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Chowdary addressed students on common mental health challenges faced by young people and explained the counselling and treatment facilities available for those struggling with emotional or psychological issues.

As part of the awareness campaign, KIMS Nursing College organised quiz competitions, poster presentations and awareness contests for students of Wesley Degree College. Winners were felicitated with prizes in recognition of their participation and creativity.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members of both KIMS Nursing College and Wesley Degree College, reinforcing the message that creating a drug-free society begins with awareness, education and collective responsibility.
