Eco-friendly “Electric Green Metro Luxury” AC buses launched in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Telangana Transport Minister, Puvvada Ajay Kumar, inaugurated the eco-friendly “Electric Green Metro Luxury” AC buses in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
Addressing the event, he stated that the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) continues to provide superior and high-quality services to the public without any transportation inconvenience.
He commended the proactive steps taken by TSRTC and likened its operations to those of the private sector. Minister Kumar also praised MD VC Sajjanar for implementing numerous positive changes during his two-year tenure.
He emphasized that as the city expands in all directions, transport services are being enhanced in tandem with the metro, enabling comprehensive travel options with a single card.
Minister Kumar highlighted the global trend towards electric vehicles and stressed the need to adopt electric vehicles to ensure a pollution-free environment for future generations.
He expressed his satisfaction that the merger of employees with the government to safeguard TSRTC is taking place during his tenure and credited Chief Minister KCR for this historic decision.
TSRTC MD VC Sajjanar noted the substantial demand for electric AC buses in Hyderabad, with an 80 percent occupancy ratio for buses operating on the airport route, serving around 6,000 passengers daily.
In response to this demand, TSRTC management has decided to introduce more electric buses for passengers’ convenience.
Efforts are being made to bring the public transport system closer to the people in the IT corridor leading to Hyderabad, with 500 buses currently in operation in that area.
It has been revealed that 475 electric buses will be deployed in the IT corridor over the next four months.
The company plans to introduce 1,860 new electric buses in the current financial year, urging the public to support and encourage eco-friendly travel options.
These new buses have been designed with modern features to enhance the travel experience.
Olectra CMD Pradeep Rao expressed his satisfaction with collaborating with TSRTC to improve public transport accessibility, acknowledging the organization’s diligent efforts to make these buses available to the public.
In the first phase, out of 50 green metro luxury AC services, 25 buses were formally inaugurated by the Minister.
The event was attended by TSRTC Chief Operating Officer (CVO) Dr V Ravinder, EDs Purushottam, Venkateshwarlu, Krishnakanth, CME Raghunatha Rao, SCSC General Secretary Ramesh Khaja, Venkatesh from Infosys, Krishna Edula (Head of Virtusa Center), Olectra Marketing Head Venugopal Rao, and other dignitaries.
