Factory Blast in Maharshtra: One Killed, One Missing and Six Injured

Palghar (Maharashtra): An explosion swept through a textile unit in the Boisar MIDC area on Saturday, killing at least one factory worker, leaving another missing, and injuring six others.

According to Boisar MIDC Police Station Senior Inspector Suresh Kadam, the incident occurred around 5.30 a.m. at the Jakharia Fabrics Pvt. Ltd., where a few of night-shift workers were on duty.

The boiler room of the two-decade-old company that manufactures blended polyester cotton, viscose fabrics, yarn dyeing, cotton linen, fabric yarn processing, and other items was reportedly ripped apart by a powerful blast followed by a raging fire.

In this tragedy, at least one worker was killed, another is missing, and six others were injured.

According to fire department officials, police squads and three fire tenders from Boisar went to the area and extinguished the flames in less than an hour.

The Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health has assigned a team to join the probe, and the police have summoned the company’s top executives from Bhiwandi (Thane) for questioning.

Ganesh Patil, Arvind Yadav, Murali Gautam, Amit Yadav, Umesh Rajwanshi, and Mukesh Yadav are among the injured, who have been transferred to a private hospital for treatment of their burns.

The body of the deceased worker, whose identity has yet to be determined, has been transferred to Palghar for an autopsy, and further investigation is underway, according to Kadam. (IANS)
