‘Fake News Par Bharosa Mat Kariye’: Charminar MLA Mumtaz Khan Affirms Loyalty to AIMIM Despite Ticket Denial

In a recent development, six-time MLA and prominent All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader, Mumtaz Ahmed Khan, clarified his allegiance to the party following reports that he might consider switching sides after being denied a party ticket for the upcoming Assembly elections.

The AIMIM leadership had indicated that Khan might not be nominated this election, instead fielding Mir Zulfikar Ali from the Charminar constituency. Concurrently, the party announced that sitting Shaikpet corporator Mohammed Rashed Farazuddin would contest from Jubilee Hills. Speculation arose that Khan might consider joining the Congress in light of these developments.

However, Khan promptly addressed these rumors, reaffirming his commitment to AIMIM. He conveyed, “I’m with my jamaat @aimim_national and with my part[y] president @asadowaisi,” via a post on a social media platform, in response to an earlier report published on Siasat.com suggesting a potential switch.

AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi, who has opted for a generational shift in the party’s leadership, did not endorse Khan for the upcoming elections. Khan, now in his seventies, even proposed that AIMIM consider nominating one of his sons or nephews for the Yakutpura or Charminar seat. However, neither he nor his kin were granted a party ticket.

Recent incidents have further stirred controversy around Khan’s family, with Charminar police booking his son, Imtiyaz Khan, over allegations of threatening a party worker in 2021. Additionally, the father-son duo was recently booked for an alleged violation of the electoral code when they organized an ‘unauthorized’ rally.

The political landscape surrounding Charminar remains dynamic, with Khan’s steadfast commitment to AIMIM asserting his continued influence in the electoral arena.
