Mathura: A Muslim driver of a pick-up van was brutally beaten up by cow vigilantes in Raal village of Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh on the night of March 20 in suspicion that he was transporting cow bones and other cow remains.
It was discovered by the officials that the bones were not of cows. In fact a contractor was disposing them off as part of the village cleanliness drive.
However, suspecting the bones to be of cows, the gau rakhshaks thrashed 35-year-old Mohammad Aamir repeatedly and also abused him verbally. Videos of the crime have gone viral on social media.
It must be noted that Aamir had a licence to transport animal carcasses.
Three villagers have been arrested in this connection and a case has been registered against several people, under sections of the IPC, including 307, attempt to murder.
Aamir has suffered bruises to his body.
