GHMC issues notices to owners of all dilapidated structures

As part of the monsoon preparedness activities; the GHMC has conducted survey for identification of the Dilapidated Structures and taken all precautionary steps.

Hyderabad: The GHMC was taking all coercive steps while dealing with dilapidated structures well in advance of the monsoon season every year.

As part of the monsoon preparedness activities; the GHMC has conducted survey for identification of the Dilapidated Structures and taken all precautionary steps such as getting verified with the structural stability of the dilapidated structure, issue of notices and taking up special drive for demolition of the structures.

In case of any resistance from demolition of the structure by the persons immediate measure for counseling is being done to the inmates asking them to vacate immediately otherwise authorities will seize the structure restricting further movement in and around the dilapidated structure.

The Minister for MA&UD held review meeting on April 5, 2022 and issued instructions to take advance action on dilapidated structures while also suggested to stenciling caution notices on all the structures about the unsafe nature and restricting movement around the same.

Accordingly as per the instructions stenciling is being done on the unsafe structures.

This year alone, out of the total 620 structures identified by GHMC, 231 structures have been demolished and 294 structures have been either repaired/vacated/seized. GHMC is taking all required steps on the remaining structures.

Further, steps have also been taken for cautioning and vacating the people leaving beneath undulated / sloppy terrains or along the old and dilapidated compound walls.

GHMC has also issued press release requesting the citizens living in the dilapidated structures to be safe and cooperate with GHMC in taking suitable action in order to safeguard the lives. Review meetings are being held continuously to monitor the day to day activity. 

GHMC will continue to take action on the dilapidated structures such as identification and initiating further action during the entire monsoon season.
