Shivamogga: A video of a self-styled god man Rishikumar Swami of the Kali Mutt in Chikkamagalur, administering an oath to boycott Muslim businesses has been shared widely online. Donning saffron robes, he is asking the family of Harsha, the Bajrang Dal man who was murdered in Shivamogga in February, to take oath to boycott Muslim establishments.
However, Harsha’s sister Ashwini did not comply and is seen folding her hands during the oath. Everyone around her stretched their hands forward during the oath.
A twitter handle with name Undefeated Faith states: “Kali Swami is making people take oath to boycott trade with Muslims, While #Harsha‘s sister can be seen not willing to participate in it. Even after being forced she is abstaining herself from joining this oath. When you suffer you will know you were being used for politics.”
Twitter user Alishan Jafri writes: “Hindutva priests literally forcing the sister of Bajrang Dal worker Harsh to take an oath to boycott Muslims. She is profusely crying and not complying. Recently, she had called upon young men to not fall into the trap of hate politics.”
Another twitter user Imran Khan shared the video stating: “Slain #Bajrangdal member from #Shivamogga #harshahindu‘s sister refuses to take a vow to stop purchasing from #Muslim business establishments. Despite urged by- the distraught sister keeps to herself.”
The video in question was shot on Tuesday March 1, in Shivamogga when the self-styled godman persona ‘Kali Swami’ made making people take oath to boycott trade with Muslims. Rishikumar who has a notorious history as a troublemaker visited Harsha’s family to offer his condolences. Hhe was arrested in January 2022 for demanding the demolition of a mosque at Srirangapatna in Mandya on the lines of Ayodhya’s Babri Masjid, the New Minute reported.
According to a report, a private television channel exposed Rishikumar by telecasting a twelve-episode titled ‘Kaaviyolagobba Kalla’ (A thief behind the saffron) in 2013.
