Here’s Why Nothing CEO, now ‘Carl Bhai’ on X, Urges Elon Musk to add ‘Bhai’ to his Name
Nothing CEO Carl Pei, now 'Carl Bhai' on X, swapped his username after a funny chat with an Indian user named Raman.
Nothing CEO Carl Pei, known for his playful interactions on social media platform X, sparked a viral sensation with his recent response to an Indian user questioning the brand’s choice of a brand ambassador, speculated to be Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh. When queried about the necessity of a brand ambassador, Pei’s response, “We want to sell more phones, bhai,” resonated with Indian audiences who frequently use the term ‘bhai’ in colloquial conversations.
In a light-hearted move, Pei changed his name on X to ‘Carl Bhai,’ prompting the official Nothing India handle to follow suit, adopting the moniker “Nothing India Bhai.” Even Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis joined in, renaming himself “Akis Bhai.”
Building on the playful banter, Pei also humorously suggested to Tesla CEO Elon Musk that he should consider adopting the username “Elon Bhai” on X, especially amidst reports of a Tesla factory coming up in India. Pei’s suggestion hinted at the simplicity of such a change potentially streamlining the process of establishing a Tesla factory in the country.
Embracing the trend, Nothing actively engaged with users on X, encouraging them to add ‘Bhai’ to their usernames, with the incentive of ten fortunate winners receiving the upcoming Phone 2a. The anticipation for Nothing Phone 2a continues to grow, with discussions revolving around “Carl Bhai,” “Bhai Bhai,” and the Phone 2a dominating X.
Scheduled to debut on March 5 during the company’s “Fresh Eyes” event, Nothing Phone 2a aims to offer excellent performance and camera quality without the need for top-tier specifications, maintaining quality standards at an expected lower price point than its predecessor.
