Hijab ‘yanked off’ in a racial assault on Muslim schoolgirl in UK

Muslim girl had her hijab ‘yanked off’ in a ‘racially aggravated’ assault at a bus stop outside the Christian Centre on Embankment Road, in Plymouth.
The 16-year-old was on the way to school to sit an exam when she was approached by a woman who punched her and pulled her hijab from her head.
The woman who was a few seats away from the victim was first arguing on her mobile phone. When the call ended, she angrily turned on the Muslim girl and shouted, ‘what’s your problem’.
Without any provocation, the woman allegedly tried to punch the girl and pulled her hijab from her head.
The upset and frightened girl was escorted to the school by a kind-hearted member of the public.
According to Metro, the student was left ‘extremely upset’ by this racially aggravated assault and could not sit her exam as a result.
The hijab is a head covering worn by Muslim girls and women to maintain their modesty and privacy from unrelated males.
