Hundreds of Farmers Gathered at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi

Chandigarh: Hundreds of farmers gathered for the ‘Kisan Mazdoor Mahapanchayat’ at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on Thursday on the call of Sanikat Kisan Morcha (SKM).

A spokesperson for SKM stated that the farmers are demanding legislation to ensure the legal status of minimum support price (MSP) for their crops.

In addition to this, farmers and agricultural workers are demanding the implementation of recommendations made by the Swaminathan Commission for pension and waiver of agricultural loans.

The government had permitted the gathering of five thousand farmers for the Mahapanchayat at Ramlila Maidan on the condition of not bringing in tractor trolleys and not holding any march.
