Hyderabad IPS Trainee Officer Arrested in Sexual Assault, Stalking and Threatening Case; Sent to 14-Day Judicial Remand

Hyderabad: The Attapur Police of Rajendranagar Zone, Hyderabad City have apprehended M. Uday Krishna Reddy, a 33-year-old IPS Officer Trainee at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVP NPA), Shivarampally, in connection with a sexual assault, stalking and threatening case. The case was registered as Crime No. 824/2026 at Attapur Police Station on July 18, 2026.

Police arrested the accused on July 28, 2026, at about 9:30 PM near Aramghar X Roads, Hyderabad. He was produced before the XXV Additional Judicial Magistrate of First-Class, Ranga Reddy District at Rajendranagar, who remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody. The investigation is ongoing.

Case Registered Under Multiple BNS and IT Act Sections

• Age: 33 years
• Occupation: IPS Officer Trainee
• Training Institution: SVP National Police Academy (SVP NPA), Shivarampally
• Native Place: Woollapalem, Singarayakonda, Prakasham District, Andhra Pradesh

According to police, the accused had earlier served as a Police Constable before clearing the UPSC and joining the 2025 IPS Batch. He has been undergoing training at SVP NPA since December 2025.

Police Detail Allegations in the Complaint

According to the police press note, the accused came into contact with the complainant, described as a fellow IPS officer trainee, through Instagram in mid-2025, after she responded to his social media post about his journey towards becoming an Indian Police Service officer.

Police stated that after exchanging contact details and discussing his humble background, the two developed a relationship.

The press note alleges that during the accused’s training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) and SVP NPA, the relationship was marked by:

• Frequent arguments
• Emotional manipulation
• Possessive behaviour
• Volatile conduct

According to the complaint cited by police, the accused allegedly:

• Repeatedly threatened to commit suicide.
• Displayed weapons.
• Insulted the complainant.
• Made persistent demands for multiple relationships.
• Harassed the complainant by throwing and damaging her laptop.
• Created fake social media accounts after being blocked.
• Threatened to release private chats.
• Contacted her family members and colleagues without her consent.

The police stated that the complainant eventually ended the relationship because of what the press note described as the accused’s unbearable behaviour and later married another person.

According to the police, after learning about her marriage, the accused allegedly continued creating fake social media accounts after being blocked, threatened to release private chats, contacted her family and colleagues without consent, and committed various offences mentioned by the complainant and other witnesses.

Accused Taken Into Custody Near Aramghar X Roads

Police stated that during the course of the investigation, the accused IPS trainee officer was found to be involved in the reported offences.

Accordingly, he was taken into custody on July 28, 2026, at about 9:30 PM near Aramghar X Roads, Hyderabad.

The police said the arrest was carried out in accordance with legal procedures.

Court Sends Accused to 14-Day Judicial Remand

Following the arrest, the accused was produced before the XXV Additional Judicial Magistrate of First-Class, Ranga Reddy District at Rajendranagar.

The Magistrate directed that the accused be sent to judicial remand for the next 14 days.

Police said that further investigation is in progress to ascertain all the facts and circumstances connected with the case and that appropriate legal action is being taken strictly in accordance with the law.

Special Team Conducted Arrest and Investigation

According to the press note, the arrest and investigation were carried out by a special team constituted by the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad.

The investigation was conducted under the supervision of Dr. P. Lavanya Naik Jadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Women Safety & Child Safety Wing (WCSW), Hyderabad.
