Hyderabad: Meridian Restaurant where Liyaqat was beaten to death for asking extra ‘raita’ shut down


Hyderabad: Meridian Restaurant in Punjagutta, Hyderabad, temporarily closed its doors on Tuesday after a customer named Liyaqat was tragically assaulted during a dispute with the staff over a ‘raita’ dish.

The incident led to swift action from Hyderabad Commissioner of Police, CV Anand, who suspended Punjagutta sub inspector Shiva Shanker and head constable Ramesh for neglecting their duty.

The victim, identified as Liyaqat, had come to Meridian in Punjagutta for a pleasant dining experience, but it turned into a shocking and tragic event. This incident has sparked public outrage, prompting calls for stricter regulations and accountability within the hospitality industry. Additionally, the restaurant has also halted its online orders.
