Metro Services Increased Amid TGSRTC Strike in Hyderabad
According to metro authorities, all buses under Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) have remained confined to depots due to the strike, severely affecting public transport across Telangana.
To reduce inconvenience, Hyderabad Metro has taken key steps:
- On the Nagole–Raidurg route, metro trains will now run every 3 minutes 40 seconds
- On the Miyapur–LB Nagar route, services will be available every 4 minutes
Officials have urged commuters to make use of these additional metro services during the ongoing transport disruption.
Passenger Rush Surges in Metro and MMTS Services
The suspension of RTC buses has led to a sharp increase in passenger traffic in both metro and Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) trains.
- Office employees and daily wage workers are facing major travel challenges
- Metro stations are witnessing heavy crowds across the city
- MMTS trains are also seeing increased usage in several areas
Commuters are struggling to reach workplaces due to the lack of public buses, making metro services a crucial lifeline.
Auto and Cab Fares Rise Due to Bus Shortage
With limited transport options available, many residents are relying on autos and private cabs, especially in areas where metro connectivity is not available.
- Auto drivers and cab operators are reportedly charging higher fares
- Increased travel costs are putting financial pressure on common people
- Movement across Hyderabad has been significantly disrupted
The absence of RTC buses has clearly impacted daily life, forcing people to seek expensive alternatives.
Government Urges End to RTC Strike
State Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has appealed to union leaders to call off the strike immediately. He stated that the government is willing to address the demands of RTC workers.
He also highlighted that:
- Buses are currently being operated on a rental basis
- Free travel for women under the Mahalaxmi Scheme is not being implemented
- Women commuters are forced to pay fares during the strike
However, there is still no clarity on how long the strike will continue.
Hyderabad Metro Becomes Lifeline During RTC Strike
As the TGSRTC strike continues to disrupt public transport, Hyderabad Metro services have become the backbone of daily commuting in the city. With increased frequency and rising passenger demand, metro services are playing a critical role in easing travel difficulties. However, unless the strike is resolved soon, commuters in Hyderabad are likely to continue facing challenges.
