As per details, Hyderabad Police conducted raids on pan shops located within 100 meters of school zones a few days ago. During these raids:
- Gutkha and other items were seized
- Police stated that running pan shops within 100 meters of schools is not allowed
- Authorities said that children under 18 years visit these shops to smoke cigarettes and consume gutkha
These actions led to concerns among pan shop owners.
Pan Association Raises Loss Concerns
Following the crackdown, the Telangana Pan Association approached:

The association stated that the action caused financial losses worth lakhs of rupees, especially affecting poor shop owners.
Meeting with Commissioner VC Sajjanar and DCP Kiran Khare
Subsequently, Mir Zulfiqar Ali held a meeting with:

During the meeting, the MLA requested:

- Return of seized goods belonging to pan shop owners
- Installation of banners at every pan shop stating that gutkha and cigarettes will not be sold to minors
He highlighted that the seizures have caused losses worth lakhs to poor people dependent on these shops.
Commissioner Assures Return of Seized Goods
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar assured the delegation that:
- All seized goods will be returned
- Steps will be taken to create awareness and prevent sale to minors
