Hyderabad Traffic Police Detect Fake Number Plate Case, Vikarabad Man Booked Under BNS and MV Act

Hyderabad Traffic Police detected a fake number plate case involving Md. Khayyum of Vikarabad district. FIR No.114/2026 registered under BNS and MV Act at Chengomul Police Station.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Traffic Police detected a fake number plate case that led to the registration of a criminal case against a 46-year-old man from Vikarabad district for allegedly using a fake vehicle registration plate to avoid traffic challan fines. The accused, identified as Md. Khayyum, was apprehended by Chengomul Police of Vikarabad District after he was found allegedly using fake registration number plate AP28DK4592 instead of his actual vehicle number AP28AZ1087.

Accused Identified as Md. Khayyum From Vikarabad District

According to the press note issued by Hyderabad Traffic Police on 26-05-2026, the accused was identified as Md. Khayyum, S/o. Md. Jahangeer, age 46 years, R/o. Manneguda (Paigah), Pudur Mandal, Vikarabad District.

Police stated that Hyderabad City Traffic Police, through their initiative and efforts, ascertained the involvement of the accused in using a fake number plate. Based on the information, Chengomul Police of Vikarabad District registered a criminal case and apprehended the accused.

Fake Registration Number Plate Used to Avoid Traffic Challans

During inspection, police found that the accused allegedly used a fake registration number plate with the intention of misleading government authorities and enforcement agencies to avoid traffic violation challan fines.

According to police, Md. Khayyum used fake registration number plate bearing No. AP28DK4592 (Hero-Honda/Passion-Pro) instead of his actual vehicle number AP28AZ1087 (Hero-Honda/Passion-Plus).

Police said the accused committed traffic violations using the fake number plate, resulting in traffic challans being wrongly generated against the legitimate registered vehicle owner of vehicle number AP28DK4592 (Hero-Honda/Passion-Pro).

The legitimate registered vehicle owner was identified as Mr. Md. Majeed, R/o. Dood Bowli, Hyderabad.

FIR Registered Under BNS and MV Act

Police registered a criminal case vide FIR No.114/2026 under Section 318 (4) BNS r/w. 80 (a) MV Act at Chengomul Police Station of Vikarabad District.

Police also stated that the accused Md. Khayyum was issued a notice under Section 35 (3) of BNSS, corresponding to Section 41 Cr.P.C.

The case was detected through coordinated efforts of the Hyderabad Traffic Police and Chengomul Police Station of Vikarabad District.

Hyderabad Traffic Police Warn Public Against Fake Number Plates

The Hyderabad Traffic Police cautioned the general public that the use of fake, identical, or tampered number plates is a serious and punishable offence under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act.

Police stated that such violations would be dealt with strictly as per law.

Officials further said that Hyderabad Traffic Police are equipped with advanced technological systems, including CCTV surveillance and ANPR cameras, to detect vehicles using fake, identical, or tampered number plates and effectively track vehicle movements.
