Hyderabad rains: IMD issues yellow alert; govt. asks residents to stay indoors

Hyderabad: Heavy rains persisted in Hyderabad for the second consecutive morning on Monday, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a yellow alert. The forecast suggests that the city may witness light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers, occasionally escalating into heavy downpours. As the city prepares for another day of wet weather, residents can also anticipate a drop in temperatures. Government has advised residents not to venture out unless necessary.

The IMD’s weather bulletin advises residents to stay vigilant against varying levels of rainfall and exercise caution during their daily activities. This alert follows a series of intermittent rains that have been gracing the city since Sunday.

While Hyderabad braces for more rain, the northern districts of Telangana are expected to bear the brunt of the upcoming weather system. The IMD has issued an orange alert for Mancherial, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, and Wanaparthi for Monday.

An orange alert indicates a higher risk of heavy rainfall in these areas, which could potentially lead to localized flooding and disruptions in daily life. Residents in these districts are strongly advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions.
