Moderate Rainfall in Central and Western Hyderabad

Localities such as Kukatpally, KPHB Colony, Balanagar, Ameerpet, Sanath Nagar, and Somajiguda witnessed moderate rainfall starting in the late afternoon. Commuters faced slow-moving traffic as waterlogging was reported on key roads, especially in low-lying areas.

Lightning and Thunderstorm Activity in Other Areas

Simultaneously, regions including Mathuranagar, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Filmnagar, and Borabanda reported rain accompanied by lightning and thunder, prompting residents to stay indoors. No casualties or serious damage were reported at the time of filing this report.

Weather Department on Alert

The Meteorological Department had earlier issued a localized thunderstorm alert for Hyderabad. Officials confirmed that the rainfall was due to convective activity caused by rising temperatures and moisture accumulation.

Precautions Urged for Commuters and Residents

Authorities have urged residents to avoid sheltering under trees or near open areas during lightning. GHMC’s Disaster Response Force teams were kept on standby to deal with any emergencies related to waterlogging or fallen trees.

More isolated showers are likely in the coming days, as per IMD forecasts.
