Intermittent Rains Continue Across Telangana, Heavy Rain Likely Over Next Two Days
After several weeks of dry weather, Telangana is witnessing a fresh spell of rainfall, with heavy showers reported in Hyderabad and several districts since Tuesday night. The city remained cloudy on Wednesday morning, with light rain continuing in several areas.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad, a low-pressure system that developed over the Bay of Bengal is currently located between north Odisha and West Bengal and is moving west-northwestwards. The weather system, along with an active southwest monsoon, is expected to bring rainfall across Telangana over the next three days.
The weather department has issued a heavy rainfall alert for 16 districts over the next 48 hours. These include Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy.
Thunderstorms, strong winds and rainfall have also been forecast for Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Rangareddy, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal districts.

The IMD has advised people to stay away from open areas, trees and electric poles during thunderstorms and avoid unnecessary travel.
According to weather department data, Telangana recorded a rainfall deficit of around 49 cm during June and July, reportedly due to the effects of El Niño, compared with 33.3 cm of rainfall during the same period last year. Experts believe the recent rains could help reduce the rainfall deficit to some extent.
Several parts of the state received good rainfall over the past 24 hours. The highest rainfall of 9.64 cm was recorded in Eturunagaram in Mulugu district. Chegunta in Medak district received 8.11 cm, followed by Medak with 7.68 cm, Shankarampet with 6.71 cm, Palim in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district with 6.90 cm and Aswaraopeta in Bhadradri Kothagudem district with 6.14 cm.
The weather department has forecast strong winds, thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in various districts of Telangana on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad Traffic Police has advised commuters to exercise caution while travelling through waterlogged areas, avoid unnecessary travel and follow official weather-related advisories.
