Hyderabad CI Accused of Misconduct, Blackmail and Extortion; Suspended After Woman’s Complaint

Hyderabad: A Circle Inspector (CI) serving at the Jubilee Hills Police Station under the Hyderabad Commissionerate has reportedly been suspended following serious allegations of misconduct, blackmail and extortion levelled against him by a woman who approached him with a complaint.

The accused officer has been identified as Srinivasulu Reddy. According to the complaint, the woman alleged that the CI gained her trust by promising to marry her and subsequently entered into a relationship with her.

The woman further alleged that the officer later pressured her to undergo an abortion after she became pregnant. She also accused him of secretly recording private videos and using the recordings to threaten and blackmail her.

According to the allegations, the officer also demanded and extorted a substantial amount of money from the woman, reportedly totalling up to Rs. 2 crore, by threatening to make the private videos public.

The victim reportedly approached the Director General of Police (DGP) and submitted a complaint along with supporting evidence detailing the alleged misconduct.

Following the complaint, senior police officials reportedly ordered an inquiry into the allegations. Based on the preliminary investigation and the evidence submitted by the complainant, disciplinary action was initiated against the CI, and orders were issued for his suspension.

The incident has raised serious concerns over the alleged misuse of authority by a police official and the need for strict safeguards to ensure that women approaching police stations with complaints are treated with dignity and protected from harassment.
