Addressing at the one day round table meet on “Internship/ Apprenticeship on the Job Training (OJT) Job Placement / Student development” organised by the Telangana State Council of Higher Education at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University Campus, here, Sridhar said that the state of Telangana is the leader in IT in the country on the other hand in education and suggested that this should be further promoted.
There are three verticals in skilling Skill University the Minister said that all the three including Internships and Career progression (Placements) have to work in tandem to provide skills to students in Telangana.
Since there was no nodal officer to handle the aspect of skilling, he wanted a short committee to be constituted to go into aspects of Structural Changes leading to transformational changes.
The Minister said that steps should be taken to ensure that the students get internships in the famous industries of the state while studying at the degree level, so that the students will be connected with the industries and the employment opportunities will improve.
He said that educational institutions will also get an opportunity to train students in a manner required by industries.
He said that there are famous IT companies in Hyderabad and the respective multinational companies and famous industrial companies are happy to enter into MoU with the government. He expressed the hope that this would be a boon for more people to get employment from the Telangana region in the coming days.
While appreciating the efforts made by Telangana State Council of Higher Education, the Minister ordered that a special cell should be set up for coordination with the government and industrial organizations and that the Principal Secretary of the Education Department should monitor it from time to time.
The Government of Telangana is devising its own State Education Policy, it is likely to borrow some aspects from the NEP 2020 either in toto or in a modified context, said Shridhar.
There are states in which there are as many as 10 to 12 Unicorns but in Telangana there are only 2 to 3 Unicorns. A lot has to done to make Telangana the Startup capital of the Country, the Minister added.
On this occasion, Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) and B.F.S.I. entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of Minister.
The minister also unveiled the Telangana State Educational Development Statistics report and diary prepared by the Higher Education Council.
Burra Venkatesham , Principal Secretary of the Education Department, said that the government is trying to provide special training for skill development to the students studying in all the educational institutions of the state and requested all the educational institutions and industrialists to cooperate.
Telangana Principal Secretary (IT) Dr.Jayesh Ranjan, said that the programs are designed to prepare students pursuing engineering education and other degree courses to compete at the international level.
Prof Limbadri, Chairman, TSCHE, while presiding over the program, said that gross enrollment in higher education in Telangana is higher than the national average and the programs implemented in the education sector of the state have received high recognition.
