Hyderabad: In a major step towards expanding advanced healthcare services for patients suffering from blood-related disorders, Kamineni Hospitals on Wednesday inaugurated a state-of-the-art Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Unit in Hyderabad.
The facility was inaugurated by spiritual leader Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, who attended the programme as the chief guest and blessed the initiative aimed at providing specialised treatment for children and patients battling illnesses such as thalassemia, leukemia and aplastic anaemia.
Hospital authorities said the newly established BMT Unit would offer advanced and potentially life-saving treatment options for children suffering from thalassemia, many of whom currently depend on regular blood transfusions for survival. They noted that bone marrow transplantation provides a long-term and potentially curative solution, especially for economically weaker families who often struggle to afford such treatment.
Addressing the gathering, Chinna Jeeyar Swamy described the treatment and care of children suffering from serious illnesses as a noble humanitarian responsibility. Praising Kamineni Hospitals for its efforts, he said the initiative reflected the spirit of “Manava Seva Madhava Seva” — service to humanity is service to God.

He expressed hope that the new Bone Marrow Transplant Unit would bring renewed hope and a better future for several affected families. The Swamy also encouraged youth to actively participate in blood donation drives and stressed that healthcare services should be guided by compassion and humanity in addition to medical excellence.
Speaking on the occasion, Kamineni Hospitals Managing Director Dr. Kamineni Shashidhar said the BMT Unit was established with the objective of delivering world-class treatment to children suffering from thalassemia and other blood disorders.
He announced that the hospital management would provide 100 per cent free treatment for children affected by thalassemia. Dr. Shashidhar also appreciated the efforts of thalassemia coordinators, voluntary blood donors and service organisations that have been supporting affected children through awareness campaigns and blood donation initiatives.
Doctors, hospital staff, parents of thalassemia children, devotees and representatives of several social service organisations attended the programme in large numbers.
