Khairatabad Police Detect Gold Theft in Travels Bus, recover 62 Grams of Stolen Gold; Accused Arrested

Khairatabad Police detected a travels bus gold theft case and recovered 62 grams of stolen gold ornaments. Accused Tatapudi Tella Raja @ Raju, 48, confessed to the offence. Police also linked him to multiple previous cases.

Hyderabad: Khairatabad Police successfully detected a theft case involving the loss of gold ornaments during travel in a private bus and recovered the entire stolen property. The accused, Tatapudi Tella Raja @ Raju, was identified and questioned, leading to the recovery of approximately 62 grams of gold ornaments stolen from a passenger travelling from Andhra Pradesh to Sangareddy District.

According to police, the complainant reported that a handbag containing gold ornaments weighing approximately 62 grams had gone missing while travelling in a private travels bus from Andhra Pradesh to Sangareddy District. Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Khairatabad Police Station, and an investigation was taken up.

Accused Identified During Investigation

During the course of investigation, police identified the accused as:

  • Tatapudi Tella Raja @ Raju
  • Son of Late Salmon
  • Age: 48 years
  • Resident of Darsi Village & Mandal, Prakasam District, Andhra Pradesh

During interrogation, the accused confessed to the offence. Police recovered the entire stolen property comprising approximately 62 grams of gold ornaments from his possession.

Previous Cases Against the Accused

Further verification revealed that the accused was involved in multiple similar property offences in the past. The cases include:

  1. Crime No. 582/2008, U/s 379 IPC, Kukatpally
  2. Crime No. 256/2012, U/s 379 IPC, Pet Basheerabad
  3. Crime No. 162/2017, U/s 109 CrPC, Narsaraopet (AP)
  4. Crime No. 17/2025, U/s 303(2) BNS, Krishnalanka (AP)
  5. Crime No. 582/2008, U/s 379 IPC, Kukatpally
  6. Crime No. 407/2010, U/s 379 IPC, Panjagutta

Two More Offences Confessed by the Accused

In his confession, the accused also admitted involvement in two additional offences:

  1. Crime No. 488/2025, U/s 303(2) BNS, of LB Nagar Police Station
  2. Crime No. 306/2025, U/s 305 BNS, of Saifabad Police Station

Public Advisory for Passengers During Long-Distance Travel

Hyderabad City Police advised passengers travelling long distances to exercise caution while carrying valuables, jewellery, cash, and electronic gadgets.

Passengers should:

  • Keep valuables in their personal custody at all times.
  • Ensure that bags containing valuables are securely fastened and kept within sight, but not left unattended on seats or in open luggage racks.
  • Immediately report any suspicious activity to bus staff and police authorities.
  • Retain journey tickets and travel details for future reference.

Advisory for Travel Operators

Travel operators have been advised to:

  • Install and maintain functional CCTV systems in buses and boarding points.
  • Ensure proper verification and maintenance of passenger records.
  • Sensitize drivers and staff to remain vigilant against suspects.
  • Not allow passengers to board the bus midway or at the last minute without taking complete details.
  • Make periodic announcements advising passengers to safeguard their belongings.

Hyderabad City Police urged citizens and transport operators to remain vigilant and cooperate in preventing thefts during travel.

Khairatabad Police successfully solved the travels bus gold theft case involving the theft of approximately 62 grams of gold ornaments from a passenger travelling from Andhra Pradesh to Sangareddy District. The accused, Tatapudi Tella Raja @ Raju, aged 48, was identified, confessed to the offence, and the entire stolen property was recovered. Police also found his involvement in several previous cases and recorded confessions in two additional offences. The investigation and legal proceedings are continuing as per law.
