More Rains Expected in Hyderabad: People Alerted, Urged not to Venture Out

Hyderabad:  Keeping in view that more rains are expected to lash Hyderabad and surrounding areas today, amid weather forecasts looking at more heavy rains lashing the city, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has kept its staff on high alert and urged citizens also to be on an alert.

In an advisory, the Civic body urged citizens to venture out only in case of emergencies and only if needed. Those facing any inconveniences or needing assistance during the rain can contact the GHMC help desk at 040-21111111.

The Disaster Response Force (DRF) of GHMC swung into action to take up the relief measures after witnessing the downpour in Hyderabad for three hours since 7 pm on Saturday, the DRF has also set up the control room 040-29555500 and 900011367.  Several colonies in Chandrayangutta were inundated.  Rain water also flooded in Lakshmi Nagar of Jangammet division and Balaji colony in Jillelaguda was submerged in the water. People of Balaji Nagar stayed indoors since yesterday evening as they could not get out of the houses with waist-level water on the road.
