Muslim freedom fighters ignored; Shabbir seeks CM’s apology

Hyderabad: Slamming Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao for not including Muslim freedom fighters in an advertisement issued on August 8 for ‘Swatantra Bharat Vajrotsavalu’, former Congress minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir demanded an apology for the same.

Writing a letter to KCR, Shabbir Ali said that if the CM is genuinely secular, he must take measures to ensure that his government does not hurt Muslim sentiments in future.

Congress leader recalled that the Godavari River water scheme was named as Maulana Abul Kalam Hyderabad Sujala Shravanti when Congress was in power and he was the Hyderabad incharge minister. He alleged that the TRS government has either changed the name or is deliberately avoiding Maulana Azad’s name.

Mr Shabbir also marked a copy of the letter to TRS MP K. Keshava Rao, chairman of the ‘Swatantra Bharat Vajrotsavalu’ committee appointed by the state government. Deccan Chronicle reported.
