No deadline for submitting applications under Gruha Lakshmi Scheme: Prashanth Reddy

He advised the Telangana people not to believe the false speculations and said that the people, who have their own piece of land for the construction of their houses, can submit applications at any time under the scheme.

Hyderabad: Denying the speculations being circulated on the social media that the deadline for submitting applications under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, Minister for Roads and Buildings Vemula Prashanth Reddy has clarified that the scheme is a continuous process and there is no deadline for submitting the applications.

He advised the Telangana people not to believe the false speculations and said that the people, who have their own piece of land for the construction of their houses, can submit applications at any time under the scheme.

“In the first phase, 3,000 houses are being allotted to each Assembly constituency in Telangana. Once the process of the first phase is completed, the second phase of the programme will be started immediately. If the first phase is completed in their respective constituencies, the people can submit applications under the second phase and they need not worry about the deadline as the scheme is a continuous process,” the Minister said.

He said that the State government had decided to complete the list of beneficiaries under the first phase by August 20. The applications which have been received before August 10 will be listed in the first phase and the rest of applications will be included in the second phase, the Minister said in a release here on Wednesday.

The government provides a financial assistance of Rs 3 lakh each to the beneficiaries who have their own piece of land for the construction of their houses.

The Gruha Lakshmi scheme is part of the Telangana government’s efforts to empower women and provide them affordable housing. The scheme will benefit over one lakh women in Telangana state.

To be eligible for the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, a woman must be be a resident of Telangana state, a member of a SC, ST, or BC community. She should be 18 years or more than 18 years old.

She should not have received any financial assistance under the scheme in the past and have a valid Aadhaar card and caste certificate.

Women who are interested for applying to the Gruha Lakshmi scheme can do so online or at the nearest district collectorate office.

Meanwhile Minister for BC Welfare Gangula Kamalakar has said government has nothing to do with the application forms circulating on social media and there is no prescribed application form for this scheme.

“Beneficiaries should write an application on paper and attach copies of necessary documents such as Food Security Card, Aadhaar Card and Voter ID Card and submit it to the Dist Collectorate or Tahsildar (MRO) office,” He said.
