Hyderabad: Controversial remarks against Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) by the suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma have evoked sharp reactions from several Islamic countries.
Here’s how the different Islamic countries expressed their condemnation at the controversial remarks against the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Pakistan
Summoning the Indian chargé d’affaires, Pakistan conveyed its categorical rejection and condemnation of the controversial remarks by the two BJP leaders Nupur Sharma and Jindal.
Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia expressed its disapproval of the controversial remarks. While appreciating the fact that action was taken against the BJP leader over the comments, the country’s foreign ministry expressed its condemnation and denunciation of the statements made by the spokeswoman of the Indian Bharatiya Janata Party.
Maldives
While unreservedly condemning all and any action that purports to pervert the true nature and of Islam and attempts to demean the holy Prophet Muhammed (PBUH), Maldives expressed deep concern at the derogatory remarks made by some officials of BJP, India. However, the Government of Maldives welcomed the action taken by BJP against those officials.
UAE
UAE condemned statements by the spokesperson for the Indian Bharatiya Janata Party. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) issued a statement affirming the UAE’s firm rejection of all practices and behaviours that contradict moral and human values and principles.
While underscoring the need to respect religious symbols and not violate them, it stressed the need to confront hate speech and violence.
Qatar
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs summons the Indian Ambassador and hands him an official note on Qatar’s total rejection and condemnation of the remarks of an official in the ruling party in India against Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). It called for a public apology by the government of India.
Indonesia
While strongly condemning the derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by the two Indian politicians, Indonesia called it unacceptable. The message was conveyed to Indian Ambassador in Jakarta.
Kuwait
Kuwait summoned the Indian ambassador and handed him over the condemnation note against remarks on Holy Prophet (PBUH) by the national spokesperson of the ruling party in India.
Indian products were pulled from shelves over the prophet remarks.
Iran
Iran also summoned Indian ambassador over insult against Prophet of Islam (peace be upon him)
Afghanistan
Government of Afghanistan asks Modi government of India to control Hindu extremists over insults to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Turkey
Joining dozen other countries in condemning India’s BJP leaders’ insulting remark on Prophet (pbuh) in strongest terms, Erdogan’s ruling party spokesman issued a statement saying ‘this is an insult not only to Muslims in India but also to Muslims all over the world.’
Jordan
Jordan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs condemned in the strongest terms the insulting statements against the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), issued by the spokeswoman for the Indian Bharatiya Janata Party.
Oman
The Grand Mufti of Oman called for boycott of Indian products over remarks of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, where she insulted the Prophet (PBUH).
Bahrain
Bahrain Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the need to denounce any reprehensible insults against Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), as a provocation to Muslims’ feelings and incitement to religious hatred.
