Pilgrim Gives Birth in Grand Mosque Courtyard in Makkah

A Sudanese pilgrim, whose name remains unknown, gave birth to a healthy baby in the courtyard of the Grand Mosque in Makkah on Monday morning.

She had experienced sudden labor pains near the Al-Tawhid Hotel in the western yard of the mosque.

Dr. Mustafa Baljoun, the director of the Red Crescent branch in Makkah, explained that the medical team quickly determined that the woman was in labor, and the delivery was underway.

Following a successful delivery, both mother and newborn were promptly taken to Ajyad General Hospital and are reported to be in good health.

Dr. Baljoun advised the public to dial 997, use the “Help Me” app, or make a distress call through the “Tawakkalna” app in case of emergencies.

The Grand Mosque encompasses the Ka`bah in Makkah and features significant sites like the Black Stone, the Zamzam Well, Maqam Ibrahim, and the hills of Safa and Marwa. Every year, Muslims from all over the world flock to Makkah to perform the Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam.
