Poor People’s Huts Demolished in Sangareddy, Former MLA Bhupal Reddy Protests

Sangareddy: Tension prevailed in Billapur village of Manuru mandal in Narayankhed constituency after officials allegedly demolished sheds belonging to poor residents, triggering protests by local people and former MLA Bhupal Reddy.
According to the allegations, the sheds were constructed by poor beneficiaries on land for which land pattas had reportedly been distributed during the previous BRS government. The beneficiaries had allegedly set up small businesses and were earning their livelihood from the structures.
Residents alleged that officials arrived with bulldozers and demolished the sheds overnight without issuing prior notices or providing a clear explanation for the action. The demolition has reportedly left several poor families worried about their livelihoods.
Former MLA Bhupal Reddy visited the affected area along with local residents and expressed his opposition to the demolition. He reportedly staged a dharna by sitting on the road at the demolition site and later began a hunger strike, demanding justice for the affected families.

The protesters also alleged official high-handedness and claimed that the action was carried out with the support of local Congress MLA Sanjeev Reddy.
The affected residents have demanded that the government intervene immediately, restore their land rights and provide relief to those whose sheds and sources of livelihood were demolished.
