Mumbai: Superstar Salman Khan expressed his heartfelt gratitude and respect to legendary actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar, who passed away at the age of 87. Taking to his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Salman thanked the veteran for his timeless contributions to Indian cinema.

A Look Back at Manoj Kumar’s Collaboration with Salim-Javed
Manoj Kumar had worked closely with Salman’s father, legendary screenwriter Salim Khan, during the making of the 1981 epic historical film ‘Kranti’. The film, known for its patriotic fervor, featured a stellar cast including Dilip Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, Hema Malini, and Parveen Babi.

During the trailer launch of the documentary ‘Angry Young Men’ based on writers Salim-Javed, Salman Khan made a surprising revelation. He claimed that Manoj Kumar once attempted to take writing credit for Kranti.
“So, I just want an interview with Mr Manoj Kumar. He is taking away the credit from Salim-Javed and saying he has written it,” said Salman.
Farhan Akhtar and Javed Akhtar Respond to the Claim
The statement drew reactions at the event. Filmmaker Farhan Akhtar humorously responded, “Did he? Then we will have a separate documentary for Manoj Ji.”
His father Javed Akhtar, one-half of the legendary writer duo, added, “I think it’s very very honest of him that he has made this confession.”
Salman concluded, “It’s a fact. He says that I used to write and read it to them. But he did write it.”
Bollywood Mourns the Loss of a Legend
Known as ‘Bharat Kumar’ for his iconic patriotic roles, Manoj Kumar passed away at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital after health complications. He was hospitalized on February 21.
