Say Goodbye to Traditional Tickets: Hyderabad Metro’s RCS Ticketing Redefines the Future of Travel

Hyderabad: Highlighting that the integration of Rich Communication Services (RCS) and Google Wallet marks a new turning point for digitising public services in India, MD & CEO, L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Ltd, KVB Reddy launched the country’s first RCS-based ticketing system for Hyderabad Metro commuters, enabling easy travel.

Addressing the launch at the Hyderabad Radisson Blue, KVB Reddy announced that L&TMRHL is India’s first Metro service to offer integrated technology services for commuters.

He emphasised the company’s commitment to improving travel experiences using innovative and accessible tech. Reddy appreciated Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s vision for city-wide Metro expansion, detailing plans to extend routes from Miyapur to Patancheru, LB Nagar to Hayatnagar, and Raidurg to Kokapet.

He shared that the Airport Metro will connect all junctions and add new stations, spanning 76.4 kilometers with five new lines. The project has a budget of Rs 24,269 crore and will be a joint effort by the Central and State governments.

Meanwhile, the Vice President of Route Mobile Ltd Sumit Zawar introduced the RCS-based ticketing system, noting that it allows ticket booking via the inbuilt text messaging app without needing third-party apps. He mentioned that commuters can simply scan a QR code, send a ‘Hi’ message, select travel details and pay using UPI.

The ticket is stored in Google Wallet, streamlining the process. Zawar highlighted that the service is currently for Android users and will expand to iOS when Apple supports RCS in India. He concluded that this initiative was launched by Route Mobile Limited, a top cloud communication service provider, in partnership with Billeasy, a Mumbai-based integration partner.
