Hyderabad: With a steadfast commitment to upholding the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the upcoming Telangana State Legislative Assembly elections on November 30, the enforcement agencies of the State and Central governments have successfully seized assets valued at an astonishing total exceeding Rs 709 crores.
According to a press release from the Telangana Electoral Office issued on Sunday, the Model Code of Conduct came into effect on October 9, in preparation for the forthcoming Telangana Assembly Elections, covering 119 Assembly Constituencies.
These seizures encompassed cash, liquor, precious metals, drugs, and various freebies, showcasing a remarkable achievement within 48 days of implementing the MCC.
In an extensive enforcement operation spanning from October 9 to November 26 and covering the entire state of Telangana, the police successfully confiscated the following items:
Cash amounting to Rs 282,75,04,482, Liquor valued at Rs 117,86,87,511, Ganja and other drugs valued at Rs 39,48,02,714, precious metals, including gold, silver, diamonds, Various freebies such as laptops, vehicles, cookers, sarees, etc., with an estimated worth of Rs 2,69,46,17,470.
The cumulative seizures over the past 24 hours alone are estimated to be worth Rs 10,66,38,065.
The total cumulative seizures, encompassing cash, liquor, precious metals, drugs, and freebies, now amount to an estimated worth of Rs 709,56,12,177, reflecting the enforcement agencies determined efforts to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process.
