Telangana Gears up for Heavy Rainfall: August 18th-20th Alert due to Intensifying Cyclonic Circulation

Hyderabad: Telangana is gearing up for a significant weather event as an upper air cyclonic circulation over the northeast Bay of Bengal is set to bring heavy rainfall from August 18th to 20th. The state official’s pronouncement has sparked preparations and alerts across the region.
In a conversation with ANI, Nagaratna, the Director at the Meteorological Centre in Hyderabad, highlighted the imminent weather situation. Presently, the upper air cyclonic circulation is stationed over the northeast Bay of Bengal. Projections indicate that within the next 48 hours, it will migrate northward over the north Bay of Bengal and evolve into a low-pressure system. Under its influence, Telangana is predicted to encounter light to moderate rains during this period and beyond. A surge in rainfall activity is expected, with the northern regions witnessing moderate to heavy showers and the rest of Telangana experiencing light to moderate rain. The 18th, 19th, and 20th of August have been earmarked for widespread rainfall.
The Meteorological Office in Hyderabad has issued a warning for heavy rains on the 19th, particularly affecting districts including Komarambheem, Mancherial, Jaishankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Warangal, and Pedapally. A yellow alert has been issued for these areas, urging residents to exercise caution.
According to Nagarata, the Director of the Meteorological Centre, Hyderabad, the city is expected to witness light rainfall over the next 48 hours. Temperatures are projected to range between 33 to 35 degrees Celsius.
In preparation for the anticipated weather conditions, the state’s monsoon emergency response teams are on high alert, particularly in the North and East Telangana districts. These areas, encompassing Adilabad, Nizamabad, Nirmal, Siddipet, Warangal, Mulugu, Karimnagar, Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, and Suryapet, are likely to experience substantial rainfall.
