Telangana Government Takes Initiative to Address Long-Pending Land Disputes, Plans Special Committee

Hyderabad: The Revanth Reddy-led Congress government in Telangana on Wednesday decided to appoint a special committee to evolve guidelines for permanent resolution of long pending land disputes in the state.

Revanth, who conducted a review meeting on the functioning of ‘Dharani Portal’ with the concerned officials at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat here, said the special committee should be established on the lines of Koneru Ranga Rao Rao committee appointed in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh to permanently resolve the complaints that were being raised by the landowners since the inception of Dharani.
The Ranga Rao Committee made several path breaking recommendations relating to land distribution.
Besides Ministers, the special committee members should be from revenue officials, Rythu representatives and experts from land related affiars, the CM directed the officials.
The CM also directed Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari to submit a detailed report on decisions taken since the inception of the Dharani portal.
During the recent election campaign, the Congress promised to scrap the Dharani portal and the Bhumata Portal will be taken over while the BJP also accused the BRS government of committing one of the worst and biggest land scams in the country through Dharani portal.
Deputy CM and Minister for finance Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers – Damodhar Raj Narsimha, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari, Principal Secretary ( Land Revenue) Navin Vittal and other officials attended the meeting.
