Telangana, Iran Renew Partnership for Preservation of Rare Persian and Arabic Manuscripts
The Department of Heritage and Archaeology, Government of Telangana, and the Noor International Microfilm Center, functioning under the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at preserving and promoting valuable Persian and Arabic manuscript collections in the state.

Hyderabad: The Department of Heritage and Archaeology, Government of Telangana, and the Noor International Microfilm Center, functioning under the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at preserving and promoting valuable Persian and Arabic manuscript collections in the state.
The MoU renewal ceremony was held on Monday at the office of the Special Chief Secretary, Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture (YAT&C) Department, Government of Telangana. The agreement extends a successful collaboration initiated two years ago for the preservation, conservation, restoration, digitization, and cataloguing of rare manuscripts housed in various repositories across Telangana.
The renewed agreement was formally signed by Prof. Arjuna Rao, Director of the Department of Archaeology and Heritage, Government of Telangana, and Dr. Mehdi Khajepiri, Director of the Noor International Microfilm Center. The ceremony was attended by Mrs. Vani Prasad, IAS, Special Chief Secretary, Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture Department.

On the occasion, the Descriptive Catalogue of Persian and Arabic Manuscripts Available in the Archaeology Museum of Telangana State was officially released. The catalogue is expected to serve as an important reference source for scholars, historians, and researchers worldwide, while contributing significantly to the documentation and preservation of the shared cultural heritage of India and Iran.
Officials stated that the renewed partnership reflects the commitment of both institutions to safeguarding rare and historically significant manuscripts for future generations. The collaboration will also strengthen academic, cultural, and scholarly exchanges between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the State of Telangana.
The initiative underscores the importance of preserving historical knowledge through modern conservation and digitization techniques, while fostering deeper cultural ties and research cooperation between the two sides.
