Telangana records a voter turnout of 51.89 percent till 3 pm

Around 51.89 percent of voting was recorded till 3 pm in the Telangana Assembly election which is going on peacefully.

Hyderabad: Around 51.89 percent of voting was recorded till 3 pm in the Telangana Assembly election which is going on peacefully.

Election Commission of India (ECI) said Young and first time voters enthusiastically participating in the poll by casting their votes.

It also said Elderly and PwD voters embody the spirit of democracy as they exercise their cherished right to vote in the election.

Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya cast his vote at Polling Station No. 232 JV High School in Ramnagar here.

The voting, which commenced at 0700 hours, is scheduled to conclude at 5 PM in 106 constituecies and at 4 PM in 13 Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected constituencies.

Election authorities said that those voters who were in the queues before 1700 hours, would be allowed to exercise their franchise even after the deadline.

Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj said that his office received complaints against the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K. Kavitha and other political leaders, which have been referred to the DEO concerned seeking their reports.

“We have received a complaint against Ms. Kavitha saying that she has violated the Model Code of Conduct. We have referred the complaint to the DEO concerned for a detailed report. We have also received complaints against other leaders also. All such complaints have been sent to the DEO’s for their reply,” he told reporters.

Raj said that ”by and large the polling was peaceful barring one or two minor skirmishes” reported in different places. The CEO said at two places, EVMs were changed due to technical glitches.
