The announcement was made during a meeting with a delegation of Muslim organisations led by Mr. Mohammed Mushtaq Mallik, President of Tahreek Muslim Shabban, who welcomed the development and raised several demands concerning Waqf properties and administration in Telangana.

Telangana Waqf Board Announces Restoration of Record Room

Chairman Mr. Azmathullah Hussaini announced that the Waqf Board Record Room has been restored to the Board’s control, ending a period of nearly nine years during which the record room was reportedly under the control of the Revenue authorities.

The announcement came during a meeting held in Hyderabad on July 2 with a delegation of Muslim organisations headed by Mr. Mohammed Mushtaq Mallik, President of Tahreek Muslim Shabban, to discuss various issues related to Waqf properties and their administration in Telangana.

Tahreek Muslim Shabban Welcomes the Development

Welcoming the decision, Mr. Mohammed Mushtaq Mallik said the restoration of the Record Room is an important step toward ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of Waqf properties.

He stated that Tahreek Muslim Shabban and several Muslim organisations had consistently demanded that the Record Room be reopened and restored to the control of the Telangana Waqf Board.

Key Demands Submitted to the Telangana Waqf Board

During the meeting, Mr. Mohammed Mushtaq Mallik urged the Telangana Waqf Board to take the following measures:

  • Publicly disclose the Board’s annual income, expenditure, and welfare spending.
  • Ensure that Waqf funds are utilised exclusively for the welfare of the poor, needy, and deserving sections of the community, emphasizing that “Waqf properties are not meant for the wealthy; they are meant for the poor and the needy.”
  • Take up the development of Dargah Hazrat Yousufain, including the construction of adequate toilets and a proper Wazu Khana for devotees.
  • Take immediate steps to remove or relocate the garbage dumping yard near Dargah Jahangir Peeran, which has been causing inconvenience to visitors.
  • Strengthen protection measures for the Rai Durg Nizamia Waqf land to prevent encroachments and safeguard valuable Waqf assets.

  • Mr. Mustafa Mahmood, General Secretary of MBT
  • Several other representatives of Muslim organisations

Delegation Seeks Transparent Waqf Administration

The delegation expressed hope that the Telangana Waqf Board would take prompt action on all the issues raised during the meeting and work towards transparent, efficient, and people-oriented management of Waqf institutions and properties.
