Ten students from US arrive at Lucknow University to learn Urdu, Persian

A group of ten students from the United States has recently arrived at Lucknow University (LU) with the intention of improving their proficiency in Urdu and Persian over an eight-week period. LU will conduct classes for them twice a week and also provide them with insights into Indian culture and values.

These students already possess a certain level of knowledge in these languages and have come to Lucknow to refine their skills and pronunciation.

This initiative stems from a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the University of Lucknow and the American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) in New Delhi.

Prof. RP Singh, the Director of International Collaboration, expressed that as part of this collaboration, Lucknow University is offering an eight-week short-term course specifically designed to teach Urdu and Persian to American students.

Julia Norman, hailing from Los Angeles, considers herself fortunate to have the opportunity to study Urdu in Lucknow. Julia aspires to enhance her language abilities during her time at LU and regards the city’s rich culture and vibrant history as an ideal environment for her learning journey.

Meredith Church, a student from the University of Colorado, finds the history and fusion of cultures in Lucknow fascinating. She feels honored to have the chance to learn Urdu in this remarkable setting.

Nikash Harapanahalli, from the state of Texas, views the opportunity to learn Urdu in Lucknow as a once-in-a-lifetime chance.
