Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC), the largest advocacy organization of Indian Muslims in the US has taken serious note of the recent anti-Muslim violence incidents in India and urged international human rights organizations and civil society groups to investigate the incidents and protect 200 million Indian Muslims who have been facing a flurry of attacks by right-wing Hindutva groups.
In its pinned tweet IAMC shared a video showing visuals of Hindu violence against Muslims across India, Hindu mob torching Muslim homes, stores, Hindu mob storming mosques, VHP leader calling for genocide of Bengali Muslims, Hindu monk calling for raping Muslims, Hindu terrorists threatening Muslim vendors and Hindu extremists mob lynching Muslim man. The video also contains a clipping showing Ilhan Omar slamming Biden for silence on India.
Observing that the processions and rallies during Ram Navami celebrations deliberately attempted to disrupt peace and communal harmony in neighborhoods dominated by Muslims, it wrote: “On April 10, several processions were taken out across India to celebrate Ram Navami. Many of these processions & rallies made deliberate attempts to disrupt peace and communal harmony in neighborhoods dominated by Muslims.”
It noted that large-scale violence was triggered against Muslims, their homes, and places of worship in 8 Indian states. It writes: “This week IAMC’s #IndiaGenocideNews segment covers the large-scale violence against Muslims, their homes, and places of worship in 8 Indian states among other 8 top stories.”
The council also retweeted Alishan Jafri’s tweet which pointed out: “More than 20 calls for an anti-Muslim genocide by influential Hindutva leaders in the last 24 months. Boycott campaigns Physical attacks on Muslim leaders Online auction of women Attack on food, clothes, religious places and culture SPEAK UP!”
