This act does not fall into any category of crime: Prayagraj Police
A video of woman offering namaz in a hospital ward went viral on social media.
Sharing the video on twitter a user stated that a case has been registered against the woman.
Video of a woman offering prayers in #UP #Prayagraj hospital goes viral, police have registered a case and ordered an investigation.
Reacting to the reports stating that the case is registered against the woman, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi expressed anger and tweeted in Hindi, ‘If the attendant of a patient admitted to the hospital for treatment, in some corner, without hurting anyone, prays according to his/her religion, then what is the crime in this? Does the UP Police have no other work? Wherever namaz is offered, FIR is registered against the namazis’
However, Prayagraj police denied the allegation and tweeted, ‘The inquiry found that the woman in the video was offering namaz without any wrong intentions, and without obstructing any work or traffic, for quick recovery of the patient. This act does not fall into any category of crime’
The video is being widely shared on social media. While many commented that it’s illegal to offer prayers in public spaces, others, believe there is nothing wrong if someone offers a prayer for the well-being of their loved ones.
Replying to Prayagraj police a Hindu twitter user thanked the police saying, “Bahut bahut dhanyawad sir Ma hindu hu lakin mujha acha lga apka taraf sa issa koi crime ni smjha or ya sahi bhi hai, kuki hospital ma hmara bhi ghar ka koi admit ho jata hai tho hm bhi bhagwan ko yaad karta hai tho wo bhi insan hai wo bhi apna Allah ko yaad kar sakte hai, thank”
In a similar incident occurred two months ago, Hindu right-wing groups had protested over offering namaz at Lulu Mall in Lucknow. Those who offered the prayer were arrested but later granted bail.
