Virat Kohli: Will He Miss the Next Match? RCB Head Coach Gives Major Injury Update

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) head coach Andy Flower has assured fans that Virat Kohli is fine despite suffering a finger injury during the match against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025.

New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) head coach Andy Flower has assured fans that Virat Kohli is fine despite suffering a finger injury during the match against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025.

During the 12th over of Gujarat’s chase, Kohli attempted to stop a boundary but hurt his finger in the process. He was seen in discomfort as the ball crossed the ropes. The RCB physio attended to him on the field before Kohli eventually walked off. Though he remained in pain, Flower dismissed concerns.

“Virat (Kohli) looks fine, he’s okay, there’s no worry,” said Flower after the match.

Mohammed Siraj’s Impactful Spell

In their first home game at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB struggled against Mohammed Siraj’s fiery 3-19 spell. Notably, Siraj was released by RCB after a seven-year stint.

“The toss was reasonably important because of the dew factor. The ball gripped off the seam in the first innings. But that’s not an excuse, they played better than us today. Siraj bowled really well,” Flower admitted.

Flower praised Siraj’s disciplined bowling. “His lines were good, his lengths were tight, and he threatened the stumps a lot. We all rate Siraj very highly and love him. I think we had a good auction and put together a strong squad, and I wish Siraj all the success in the world.”

RCB’s Batting Struggles

RCB managed to post a competitive 169/8, thanks to Liam Livingstone’s 40-ball 54, along with contributions from Jitesh Sharma (33) and Tim David (32).

“We lost some wickets trying to be aggressive in the powerplay, which was a big swing in the game. If you lose the powerplay, you’re in trouble. But I thought we fought hard after that. Tim David, Jitesh, and Livingstone helped us put up a total we could challenge them with,” Flower stated.

RCB’s Next Challenge

RCB, led by Rajat Patidar, now have a four-day break before heading to Mumbai. They will take on Hardik Pandya’s Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on April 7.
