Warangal: Assistant Registrar of Kakatiya University Caught Accepting Rs 50K Bribe

The sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday caught Singasarapu Kistaiah, Assistant Registrar/Audit Officer at the Audit Branch of Kakatiya University, Warangal, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.

Hyderabad: The sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday caught Singasarapu Kistaiah, Assistant Registrar/Audit Officer at the Audit Branch of Kakatiya University, Warangal, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.

At approximately 1148 hours, Kistaiah, was caught by the ACB, Warangal Unit, at his office chamber when he demanded and received a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant Pendem Rajender, Proprietor of Rajender Milk Distributors in Charbouli, Warangal.

The bribe was demanded from the complainant for facilitating the processing of pending bills amounting to Rs 9,24,806 related to the supply of milk and curd to the Kakatiya University campus hostel messes by the complainant for the period of April 2023 to May 2023.

Additionally, it was stated to be a reward for the previous bills processed by the Assistant Registrar, as per an ACB release.

The Assistant Registrar was found to have improperly and dishonestly performed his public duty.

The bribe amount was recovered from the left upper drawer of the Assistant Registrar’s office table at his direction. Subsequent chemical tests on the right-hand fingers of the accused officer and the contact portion of the office table drawer yielded positive results.

The Assistant Registrar was being arrested and will be produced before the First Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Hyderabad.

Case against Senior Assistant, Nakrekal MRO Office

In another case, the ACB on Friday registered a case against the Senior Assistant, Office of the Tahsildar in Nakrekal Mandal, of Nalgonda district in Telangana for demanding bribe of Rs 65,000 from the complainant.

On December 20, 2023, the Senior Assistant N Venkanna demanded a bribe amount of Rs.65,000 from the complainant Kommanaboina Venkatesham, a resident of Nakrekal in the same district to do an official favour– “to enter Acres 2.0 Gts. of land in Sy.No.15/2 in his father’s Pattadar Passbook”.

Thus, the AO performed his duties improperly and dishonestly which constitutes an offence punishable under PC Act.

Hence a case vide Cr. No.1/RCO-ACB-NLG/2024, U/s 7 (a) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (As amended in 2018) has been registered against him today in ACB, Nalgonda Range, the ACB release added.
