Hyderabad: BRS Working President K T Rama Rao (KTR) credited former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) for implementing a 95 per cent reservation for locals in Telangana.
Speaking to the media at Telangana Bhavan on Saturday, KTR highlighted the significant strides made under KCR’s leadership, particularly in securing local job reservations.
“Under the previous Congress government, the youth of Telangana faced great injustice with general category jobs being allotted as non-local. KCR’s relentless efforts, including lobbying the Prime Minister, resulted in 95 per cent reservations for locals—a unique achievement in our country. Students, parents, and the unemployed should recognize this pivotal change,” KTR stated.
He provided a detailed account of the job creation and recruitment efforts under KCR’s tenure.
The Congress government (2004-2014) filled only 24,086 government jobs, with Telangana receiving approximately 10,000 of these.
In contrast, KCR’s government approved 2,32,308 jobs over ten years, notifying 2,02,735 of them. So far, 1,60,083 jobs have been filled, with 42,652 in the process of being filled.
KTR also addressed recent claims by Congress leaders, specifically Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who alleged that the Congress had provided 30,000 jobs.
KTR refuted these claims, citing the lack of notifications and examinations for such positions during the Congress tenure.
KTR further highlighted the broader economic impact of KCR’s policies, emphasising the 24,000 industries approved through TSiPASS, which attracted Rs 4 lakh crore in investment and generated 24 lakh private sector jobs.
This, combined with the 2,36,000 government jobs, resulted in over 26 lakh jobs created in ten years.
“No other government has matched this level of recruitment in a decade. If any state can demonstrate more job creation than ours, I will resign from my post as MLA immediately,” KTR said.
