New Year Drunk-and-Drive Crackdown in Hyderabad, over 500 Offenders Counselling at Goshamahal

Hyderabad traffic police detain over 500 drunk-and-drive offenders during New Year celebrations and conduct counselling at Goshamahal Traffic Training Institute, with youth forming the majority.

As part of New Year celebrations, traffic police launched a strict drunk-and-drive drive across Hyderabad, leading to the detention of hundreds of motorists found driving under the influence of alcohol.

A large number of offenders were brought to the Traffic Training Institute at Goshamahal, where officials conducted counselling sessions to prevent repeat offences and ensure road safety.

Traffic officials stressed that drunk driving not only risks the driver’s life but also endangers pedestrians and other motorists.

Strict Enforcement to Continue

Police confirmed that special drives will continue during festivals and weekends to curb drunk driving and reduce road accidents in the city.

Citizens have been urged to:

Road Safety a Priority in 2026

The New Year crackdown reflects the authorities’ commitment to making Hyderabad’s roads safer, especially during high-risk celebration periods.
